I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Competences:
By the end of the unit, students will be able to:
- Group work and independent working, pair work, linguistic competence, cooperative learning and
communicative competence.
- Develop communication skills and enhance awareness of preserving the culture
- Be co-operative and supportive in pair work and teamwork.
- Actively join in class activities.
- use the words related to the topic Food and Drink;
- use some, a lot of, and lots of to talk about quantity;
2.Knowledge:
*Vocabulary:
- Vocabulary to talk about Food and Drink: pancakes, fish sauce, teaspoon, table spoon
* Pronunciation:
Pronouncing the new words correctly: pancakes, fish sauce, teaspoon, table spoon

- To educate the love and responsibility to family and housework.

1. Activity 1: WARM UP (5 minutes)
Aims:
- This is the review and drill section of the unit. Encourage Ss not to refer back to the unit pages.
Instead, they can use what they have learnt during the unit to help them answer the questions.
- That will help you and your Ss see how far they have progressed, and which areas need further
practice.
- Encourage Ss to review and drill section of the unit 5.
Content/Performance tasks:
Review the previous lesson or have some warm-up activities to create a friendly and relaxed
atmosphere to inspire Ss to warm up to the new lesson.

PROJECT
1. Work in groups. Design a poster about eating habits in an area or a foreign country you
know, including:
- names of main meals and mealtimes
- names of common food / drink for each meal
- pictures or photos to illustrate the meals
2. Then organise an exhibition of all the posters in your class. Present your poster to the class.

Today, I am going to present my poster about eating habits in our country – Viet Nam. In our country ,
we have 3 main meals a day, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At around 6.30 a.m., they usually
have a light breakfast with a bowl of pho or bread. Some people eat a bowl of instant noodles and drink
a cup of coffee before going to work. Lunch usually starts around 11.30 a.m. They usually have a plate
of fried rice and drink juice for lunch. Dinner usually starts at 18:00 with rice, lots of vegetables, some
meat and fish. Then they usually have some fruit and some tea.
Implementation:
PROJECT
- T should assign the project in earlier lessons such as in GETTING STARTED lesson. Make sure to
guide them carefully and check their progress after each lesson. In the last lesson (LOOKING BACK),
ask Ss to present their posters to the class.
ACTIVITY 1
Ask Ss to work in groups, discussing the eating habits in an area or a foreign country they know and
deciding what information they should write and what pictures or photos they should use to illustrate the
meals.
- Ss Listen to the teacher's instructions carefully.
- Ss Do the tasks . Prepare the at home beforehand.
- Ss should finish the projec project in class, assign groups in the previous lessons.

ACTIVITY 2
Displays all or some of the posters on the wall or notice board and ask each group to present their poster
to the whole class. When all groups have presented their posters, T may have the whole class vote on
the best poster.
** T can assign the project in earlier lessons. Make sure T guides them carefully and checks their
progress after each lesson. In the last lesson (LOOKING BACK), ask Ss to present their invitation.

III. PROCEDURES
1. Activity 1: WARM UP (5 minutes)
Aims:
- Revise the old lesson.
- Do some activities to creat a friendly and relaxed atmostphere to warm up to the new lesson…
Content/Performance tasks:
- Have some warm-up activities to create a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to inspire Ss to warm up to
the new class.
Outcome/Performance Products:
- Interest and concentration of Sts on the class activities.
- A friendly and relaxed atmostphere to the new lesson
- Having a chance to speak English and focus on the topic of the lesson..

+ Game: Game: Pass the secret
* Teacher explains the game rules:
* Students play in teams. Teacher whispers some school facilities to one member from each team
(school playground, computer room, gym, school library …). The students have to pass the secrets to the
person next to him/her. The last student of each team says the word out loud. The team finishing more
quickly and with more correct answer is the winner.
- Students pass the secrets.
- Students (Ss) listen and learn how to do and do the tasks.
- Teacher confirms the answers and gives feedback.
- Students Open their book and write .
- Ask Ss to open their book and introduce what they are going to study….

2. Activity 2: PRE- STAGE (5 minutes)
Aims:
To help Ss match the words in column A with appropriate ones in column B to make phrases related to
school activities.
Content/Performance Tasks:
Teach some new words . Do the matching . Repeat the words.

Ss know more new words. Learn how to use them .

Implementation:
Task 1. Match the phrases with the pictures. Then listen, check, and repeat the phrases.
*) Pre- teach vocabulary:
- Teacher uses different techniques to teach vocabulary (situation, realia, translation .....)
+ Teacher may introduce the vocabulary by:
- providing explanations of the words;
- showing picture illustrating the word.
+ Follow the steps to teach vocabulary
- Repeat in chorus and individually
+ Check vocabulary.
- Have Ss look at the words in the two columns. - Check if Ss understand the meanings of all the words.
If not, T may give definitions or the Vietnamese equivalents.
- Remind Ss that these phrases are key phrases they are going to learn in up coming lessons.
- Get Ss to match the words in column A with the words in column B.
- Go around and offer help or explanations, if necessary.
- Ask Ss to share their answers in pairs. Then let some Ss read the phrases in front of the class.

3. Activity 3: WHILE - STAGE (25 minutes)
Task 1:
Aims:
To help Ss complete the sentences with the phrases they have learnt in 1
Content/Performance Tasks:
Ss know more new words. Learn how to use them .
Complete the sentences with phrases in 1.
Outcome/Performance Product:
Ss can know more the words and use them correctly.

Implementation:
Task 2. Complete the sentences with the phrases in 1.
- Tell Ss to read five sentences and explain that they have to look at the gaps and find appropriate
phrases in 1 to fill these gaps.
- Have Ss do the task individually by filling each gap with one phrase in 1.
- Ask them to share their answers in pairs. Then call on some Ss to write their sentences on the board.
Make corrections if necessary.
- Students Listen carefully and learn how to do.
- Students Give the answer
- Select one or two Ss to read the complete sentences in front of the class. Praise them when they read
the sentences correctly.

Aims:
To help Ss ask and answer questions about their school.

Ss can answer the questions correctly.

Implementation:
Task 3. Work in pairs. Answer the questions about your school.
- Ask Ss to read the questions. Draw their attention to the key words or phrases in the questions (e.g.
gifted student, first-term test, facilities, outdoor activities ...).
- Remind them that these words/
phrases have been learnt in 1 and 2.
- Ensure that they know what to do.

- Ask Ss to work in pairs, one student in each pair asks the questions, the other answers.
- Ask them to use the key words or phrases in their answers (e.g. The most gifted student in our school

- Then have some pairs ask and answer the questions in front of the class.

Listen and repeat the word to pay attention to the sounds: /t∫/ and / dʒ/

Ss can learn how to pronounce the sounds: /t∫/ and / dʒ/

/ dʒ/: jam, gym, juice, large, project, intelligent
Implementation:
Task 4. Listen and repeat the words. What letters can we use to make the / dʒ/ sound?
- Give Ss a few minutes to look at the words individually. Draw their attention to the words with the /tj/
sound on the left side of the table (e.g. cherry, lunch,...) and the words with the/dy sound on the right
side of the table (e.g. jam, large, etc.).
- Play the recording several times, if necessary, for Ss to listen and repeat the words individually or in
chorus. Go around to offer help or correct pronunciation, if necessary.
- Play the recording again. This time, have them underline the letters that make the /dy sound (e.g. gym,
large, project, intelligent, etc.)
- Have Ss practise saying the words in pairs or groups until they feel confident.
- Call on some Ss to say the words in front of the class.
